Core Design Limited,
a software house in Derby (England) won
a contract to write software for the Sega
Megadrive. There was only one problem -
all the technical manuals for the Megadrive
were written in Japanese.
The Managing Director
of Core, Jeremy Smith, contacted future
implications and we translated the
entire set of manuals into English for them.
As the programmers were expected to meet
very tight deadlines we took a phased approach
to this translation. Each chapter was delivered
by fax as soon as it was finished. When
programmers had finished writing the software
and the pressure was off, we presented them
with hard copies of the documents re-formatted
to achieve a consistent style.
