Document translation details

When translating documents, the following is very important.

  • What format is my document currently in?

  • What format would I like my translated document returned in?

What format is my document currently in?

The format in which you currently have the document to be translated can make a difference to the time taken to complete the translation and hence the price. Please ask yourself

  • Is the document you want translating in printed format? If so, is it possible to get a copy in word processor format (preferably Microsoft Word for Windows)?

  •  If you just have a fax of the document, is the fax easily legible? ... unfortunately Japanese text does not always come out clearly on faxes.

Tip: If you intend to fax a Japanese document, check to see if your fax machine has a 'fine' or 'super fine' mode. Even though transmission time will be greater, the resulting image is much sharper.

What format would I like my translated document returned in?

The format in which you want your document returned can also have a big influence on the time required to turn the job around and the price. Some things to consider are.

  • Hard copy or computer file? Is it sufficient to return the document in printed format or do you need it in a form you can manipulate on your computer? Remember, if you are having a document translated into Japanese, your computer may not be able to cope with Japanese text. Click here for more details.
